A strong area of high pressure will keep our skies clear tonight - TopicsExpress

A strong area of high pressure will keep our skies clear tonight with winds expected to diminish. This, along with the fact that we have a fresh snowpack, will set the stages for a bitterly cold night. Temperatures will quickly tumble through the single digits this evening, bottoming out between -5 and -10 by morning. More sunshine is likely tomorrow with temperatures not as cold. A light southerly breeze will help push readings into the mid 20s by afternoon. Thursday will feature a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the mid to upper 20s. A cold front will pass through the region early Friday with the chance for scattered flurries. A push of colder air will follow with temperatures expected to drop through the 20s during the day. A return to milder conditions will occur over the weekend as our winds will once again shift out of the south and southwest. Partly sunny skies are likely on Saturday with highs in the mid 30s. Well end up slightly warmer on Sunday with temperatures, just ahead of another cold front, expected to top out into the upper 30s to near 40. Late day snow showers are possible as the front moves through with little or no accumulation expected. Temperatures will drop back to seasonally cold levels by early next week with highs in the upper 20s and lower 30s. A storm system lifting off the Mid Atlantic Coast looks to stay far enough to our east with dry conditions forecast for Monday and Tuesday.
