A third man has been charged for an armed robbery at a Seven Hills bank which happened in June 2012. Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives have today arrested and charged a third man over a Western Sydney bank robbery last year during which a shot was fired. About 2.45pm on Wednesday 6 June 2012, two men entered a bank in a shopping complex on the Prospect Highway at Seven Hills and allegedly threatened staff with a pistol and a sledgehammer. A staff member activated the security screens; however, one of the men managed to get behind the counter and allegedly fired a shot into a wall. An amount of cash was taken before the men fled in a Mercedes which had been stolen during an aggravated break and enter at Mosman in 2011. As well as employees, a number of customers were in the bank at the time of the robbery. No-one was physically injured. The Robbery and Serious Crime Squad have been investigating the incident and recently linked a firearm seized during another investigation to the robbery. Earlier today (Wednesday 14 August 2013), detectives spoke to a 38-year-old man at Wagga Wagga Police Station, charging him with robbery whilst armed with a dangerous weapon, larceny, and drive conveyance taken without consent of owner. He remains in custody to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court today. It follows the arrests and charging of two men at Silverwater and Bankstown yesterday.
