A to Z H: Hospital Hours wheel chairs spawn at 9pm... they gather in alcoves off the main exits... they circle and wander in-front of doors - some even escape outside... its best to stay out of their way. none of the ones we have used have run away but i keep an eye on them at the closing hour. the best time to find a parking space is half past breakfast and quarter til lunch...if youre lucky there will be one on the third floor near the walkway...just remember the walkway starts on the third but ends on the second floor. if youre sneaky there is a secret route through the middle of the hospital for employees only...cuts the loop around the outside by half and gets your closer to anywhere on the other-side. there is a truly awesome aquarium in a waiting room off the third floor. the atrium glass elevator shaft has fish painted on the walls of the shaft in the lower level. the chapel glows softly and is quiet like nowhere else in the hospital. if you go the cafeteria when they are switching between breakfast and lunch they will over fill your breakfast order to get rid of the food... bonus bacon. the non service B elevators vanish... you can see where they once were... but they dont show up on every floor. many of the you are here maps are identified improperly as to their orientation to the whole hospital layout. there are 2 hallways that a hospital bed and a wheel chair will not fit at the same time. in some of the weirder hall junctions you have to square dance with moving beds if you get there when they do. the ICU vending machines get refilled more often and have better stuff. you know you have been here too long when all the security people know you and are ok with your wanderings at odd hours. i was pleased i could identify most of the artists featured in the hidden back hall wall art galleries. i think there are wheel chair races after midnight...you run into odd groupings and quiet side looks of kids caught in the cookie jar. there is a prayer request wall outside the small atrium vending area that will break your heart. if i sit in a chair and tilt my head just right in my dads room there is a 12 inch sky view of bright blue wedged between building tops, vents and frosted window. it catches clouds every now and then they put on a shape shifting show.. if you stare long enough into this free zone of no orientation or horizon you can fall into the blue. ... i think it would be quiet there.
