A very big thanks to everyone who has called, emailed, posted, sent letters, etc in the wake of my brother Jims untimely death. This really means a lot to my family and myself, especially my dear mother. I feel like i have a truly amazing set of friends that span the entire range of what it means to be a human. My brother possessed a similar view and affinity for humanity This is a true gift as humans have a tendency to live in echo chambers, to hear only what they want to hear and to be affirmed of their their enemy, and to their absolute superiority over their enemies. Lost humans are envious and jealous and petty. Found humans are amazing. Jim did everything from official intelligence operations in South Korea to cavorting with the likes of Andy Warhol and the deep art scene of NYC - back before the fall into wanton attention getting - back when it was still important, dangerous, and very vibey - the world was exploding in creative thought and action and its crucible of operation was NYC. i believe my dear brother attempted to read every single piece of literature in the entire world, he may have succeeded. I once noticed while visiting his extensive library that he would have a book on a particular subject, only to have a book right next to it completely challenging the original. That takes guts and serious self examination. By example he showed me ways to get out of my own head, unlatch from the dock of provinciality and sail the seas of thought. In light of Jims dedication to literature, and for those who may appreciate this, I think he and I agreed we were more Liebnitz (versus Hobbs) with a little bit of stardust ala Johanne Keppler thrown in to keep things interesting and in hopes of experiencing the odd bout of future elegance, unlikely as it may be. Liebnitz implores that man must continually build a higher conception to continue its natural course which is amazing. Man is magical and best at love. Creativity is the only true wealth, the rest are middle men - fancy as they be. Man is distinct from animal in the biosphere, and is the prime agent in the noosphere (know-a-sphere). Man extends the noosphere. Further - man encapsulates the solar system as a concept, the solar system does not encapsulate man as a concept. Keppler adds the stardust. The Solar System is not only based on musical (harmonic) principles, it is BUILT from musical (harmonic) principles. If our classical musical chops dwindle, we as a race will soon follow. Pop music basically speaks of irrelevance, in fact celebrates it, UNLESS it embraces 4 orders of principled articulation, i.e. unless it becomes classical composition, which is possible. Man must not look to the past for music, this goes against music and thus the solar system - purveyors of such should just be honest and become TV presenters instead. Man must construct new and bold music constantly, the solar sytem will follow. The solar system loves a good show and may even add some lighting, so get on with it. So yeah my brother Jim, we travelled the world together. We loved cathedrals and monasteries and ancient battle sites. we liked street culture as well. We watched our parents leave relative comfort and build their lives from scratch in a pretty spectacular way. We witnessed the unearthing of the Abbots in Bury St Edmunds, we were at Blenheim on the eve of Clementine Churchills passing, we strolled with the Royals at Ascot, we got drunk with the hoodlums in Brooklyn, we witnessed the insane destructive power of war and vowed allegiance against it - we saw Pink Floyd at Knebworth and Led Zeppelin at Earls court - and on and and on. You couldnt ask for a better life really.
