A visit to the hospital - what started off as a good idea became a - TopicsExpress

A visit to the hospital - what started off as a good idea became a stressful one and ended even more hilariously traumatic. In order to attend a hospital appointment I decided to use the bus part way to save on parking and congestion at the hospital and thought it would be easier. So I left work and parked my car near a bus stop going to the hospital. Armed with a bus timetable, I waited, and waited. The first bus never arrived, apparently a regular occurrence according to the others at the bus stop, who were ranting and raving about the council so I kept my mouth shut! Then the next bus was 5 mins late. So after waiting 20 mins we boarded the bus. In it drove round the front entrance of the hospital, thinking it would pull up at the bus stops seeing it was one of the hospital buses. But no, it never stopped, just carried on round and back out again! I should have pressed the button for it to stop and hadnt realised. So down Haslingden Road we went, me panicking wondering how far back I would have to walk. Eventually I arrived inside the hospital at totally the wrong end, then followed a full half an hour of walking up and down every corridor and on 3 levels, everyone directing me to everywhere except where I should be. I passed ENT three times, there back and there again.I had even come down one level, along the corridor, walked through the reception level past the shops and had to go up stairs again there as these were access to another separate part. I was soon coming back down, along the same corridor I just walked along and back up again. By the time I finally arrived at the right place, even the nurse commented I looked stressed and was 10 mins late even though I had set off about an hour and quarter earlier just from town. My appointment at the cancer clinic went well, I had some treatment, had to grit my teeth a bit, have two large plasters on my back but all is well, Dr said she was not worried and she doesnt need to see me again. So thank you to everyone for their kind thoughts and good wishes. So I will still be here to celebrate my birthday tomorrow. Going to enjoy that now. During the examination the doctor said I was hot and sticky, I thought no wonder with the stress of getting here, Ive covered every inch of this hospital already! I went to have a cold drink and piece of cake to de-stress so the 1000 calories I had just burnt off the lemon drizzle cake put back on!.Had to go to a far flung building afterwards for a meeting then I attempted the return journey. As the signposted path was blocked off I found my way back through some dense foliage and finally arrived at the front entrance whereupon I waited for the bus again. Ten minutes later one arrived which I thought may go Shadsworth way, the lovely lady driver say no but said to wait for the no.23 which I knew was right anyway. So that came, on I got, but he said no Im going the other way round, going to Blackburn first. I understood that it went all the same way round just round and round, obviously not. So I got off, but whilst I was on this bus that minute or two, the bus going the other way round came past and drove straight past - obviously no-one had pressed the bell! So I went back to the bus shelter again. Going up for 5 by this time. After consulting the time table again, the next bus was another half hour. I couldnt cope with that, and thought sod this for a game of soldiers, Ive had enough. So I paid for a taxi to take me back to my car parked at the bus stop!! The brilliant idea wasnt so good in the end.
