A visiting colleague asked if i would be happy if Gambia is to join Senegal as one country, i quizzed, asked why that question,. He told me since he arrived, he has observed the people very well, the language is similar, the same dresses and the driver told me some radios link with Senegalese radios for news. I have heard that Gambians watch Senegalese TVs more than they watch their national TV.. Well i knew he got a point, we have been greatly influenced by foreign media. Imagine the influx of foreign artists in the country which is a threat to d development of our music and art. We all have got more interest in what happens outside than what happens in the Gambia and we cant just blame the people, perhaps blame the media.. Tune into all the radios, you hear more foreign music than home music, very useless programs, few programs or maybe non that are wise and can increase the awareness of d people, most of the programs are not Gambian.. we want to talk like our neighbours, we dress like them, our radios stations even broadcast their news *#purenonsense*. We talk about them more than we talk about ourselves, we believe in them more than we believe in our own brothers and sisters.. We are the market that buys their products and services.. I dont dislike them, its were my grand dad was born.. I dont hate foreign influence, but i hate wat we have being wiped out as a result of foreign influence..
