A warning from Hastings Police about a security company under investigation by Trading Standards: Please can all residents be aware that an alarm company called Landmark Security are currently cold calling in our area. Landmark Security use high pressure selling techniques to sign people up to purchase their house alarms and then sign a twelve month contract to the sum of £240 per year. The most recent report came in from a lady in her 70s who was cold called by Landmark Security at the end of June 2013. The representative stayed at her St Leonards home for five hours before she agreed and signed the deal. This cost her £1200. Unfortunately because she was placed under so much pressure, she didn’t read the small print and signed away her right to a cool off period and selected express installation. The fee to have the alarm system removed was £400. Landmark Security has been investigated by Rogue Traders in the past.
