A way to get rid of strangers Social networking services have the strongest point as quick construction of extensive relationship to people in the world. But their system is too easy to connect with unfamiliar persons, which often makes users of them too familiar. In using them, I have many times of being sent an application for connection with friend of friends of friends of friends of mine, who is almost a stranger for me. I have a rule in giving my consent to his or her application. I only accept the strange applicant with his or her polite messages or detailed profiles as a friend in social networking service and keep being moderate in relationship to avoid unnecessary formality each other. First contact is so just the point that I judge whether the stranger will be the stranger in the future by first impression.
