A while ago I mentioned to a FB friend that many years ago a song/poem I had written was used at the opening ceremony of the new Loon Bay Camp builing. He said hed like to hear it. Well, Ive finally found it. It was then sung to the tune Ellon. I never got around to composing my own tune for it. Island Hymn Have you seen the rocky coastline where graceful seagulls soar; or watched the peaceful ocean and fishing boats close to shore; the sparklets on the water, the hills across the bay? O Lord, I’d like to thank you for bringing me this way. Have you sat and watched the beaver as he builds his sturdy dam; or squirrels leaping branch to branch, or ewe with newborn lamb; or listened to the nesting birds who come from far away? O Lord, I’d like to thank you for bringing me this way. Have you walked on woodland pathways when trees don autumn hue; the air is damp and chilly as you’re picking berries blue, tall pines release their fragrance when in cool gales they sway? O Lord, I’d like to thank you for bringing me this way. Have you travelled smoothly on a crisp, bright winter day; when snowflakes glisten on the ground and glittered branches sway; when all the world is silent and in wonderment you say? ‘O Lord, I’d like to thank you for bringing me this way.’
