A while back, my cousin Em Higgins, challenged me to cite 10 books that touched me, and this picture just made me remember that I never did it. So, here is my list of 10 books that has touched me throughout my life, and why. They are in no particular order, and there are so many more where this list came from. I should be tagging people, but I wont. If you want to add yours in the comments, go for it. :) 1. Where The Wild Things Are- Maurice Sendack- This the first book I really remember loving, after I learned how to read. To me, it is a book that tells a child that it is ok to use your imagination, and let it fly. This book helped me through a lot of bad. 2. Fox in Socks- Dr. Seuss- This is one of the books my Speech Therapist wanted me to learn to read. Due to my hearing loss, I had a hard time pronouncing words, and this book helped quite a bit, and also became a favorite. I love reading this book to the little people. :) 3. Misty of Chincoteague- Maurgerite Henry. There are three books in this series. I still have them. My mother gave them to me when I was nine, and quickly became a favorite. 4. Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy- Douglas Adams. This is one of the funniest books I have ever read, and probably has the most memorable one-liners in the history of books. :) 5. The Diary of Anne Frank- Anne Frank. This book showed me what true bravery was. And, how to find positive in a hard situation. Anne inspired me to name my own journal Katherine (coincidence?) , as she had named hers Kitty. 6. To Kill a Mockingbird- Harper Lee. Pure Classic. Not sure there is really any other reason. 7. Stephen King- The Stand, Firestarter, Skeleton Crew, Duma Key, Eye of the Dragon, It... Stephen King is one of my most favorite authors of all times. I have ready pretty much everything, and it is hard for me to narrow it into one book. The End. 8. Jane Austen- Pride and Prejudice, Northanger Abbey, Sense and Sensibility, Persuasion- Another one that I just cant pick one. She invented Mr. Darcy... Need I say more? 9. North and South- Elizabeth Gaskell- This book is one that makes you realize that struggles that we have in our time regarding workers, and managers isnt so new, and it has been going on for ages. And, within that story, is the love affair of John and Margaret. If you have never read it, you really should. 10. Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon- There is not enough that I could ever say about these books. There are 8 of them, and they are filled with history, time travel, and a long lasting love between Jamie and Claire. These books just touched my soul, and has led me to some of the best friends I have ever had.
