Just had a great morning meeting with several Business owners in town. Thank you for inviting me and for taking the time to get to know me and tell people who I am. There is one question I was asked to clarify for voters, I am more than happy to explain. My opponent is saying if elected he will create a Citizens Committee of his peers to tell him what is best for the County, am I going to commit to something similar? The answer is plain and simple NO! Let me explain that there is already a planning commission, water board and other various groups of citizens who have graciously offered expertise to the county. Their knowledge is invaluable, however, there have been no BIG changes from these committees, forward thinking progress and revenue brought in that will sustain the county for years to come. My plan is to listen to and be accountable to YOU, the citizens. I will tour the county and hold frequent Listening Tours, to best get input from you, the voter. I do not believe in creating a group of my friends or appointees who are like minded, to tell me how to represent the citizens in the county. This is why you will see me at meetings, HOAs, town hall style events as well as you will see me all over the County. It is a vast county and I do not expect every citizen to come to me. There is a lot serious work to do and I am not interested in creating closed play groups with political agendas to tell me what the Voters want. I want to hear it from the voters. We are well into 21st Century and it is time to rid ourselves of old school politics and tactics that have not proven fruitful. It is time for a leader to bring a vision and follow through on Campaign promises, without an agenda, but as a voice for all of Elbert County. This is not about Politics anymore, it is about good, common sense policy.
