A year ago today I set out on a journey to become a healthy person, both on the inside and the outside, after being told by my doctor yet again that if I didn’t do something, I WOULD get diabetes. And having a couple of family members with that, I know the struggles, and did not want to end up dealing with the same ones. I have had both victories, and setbacks in the journey, but I am so happy to report, that in the past year, my numbers from the doctors have all gone up/down to where they need to be, and I have lost 48 pounds to date, and hope to continue on. I am not always proud of myself for a lot, but for this, I am. I have had ups and downs, weeks where I did great, weeks where I didn’t so much, but I always got right back to it, which I never did before. I’m not on a diet; I am changing my eating habits. Do I still eat things I shouldn’t, yep (more often than I should)! Do I always exercise 5-7 days a week, nope! But on average, I stick to my basic changes that I’ve made, and it seems to be working. I am able now to be active with my nieces and nephews, playing basketball, swimming, kickball, etc., that I couldn’t do as easily before, or without taking a million breaks. I have fun now, and find ways to be active. I believe I have come far in physical and mental health, although it is always a work in progress. Will I keep it going, who knows, I can only hope, and only do it one day at a time. Thanks to all of the people, both family and friends, that have helped me along this journey! You have no idea how much your faith and encouragement have meant to me!
