AAP rally on Gandhi Jayanti in support of the protest against land-grabbing led by 96 yrs old freedom fighter, Sri HS Doreswamy in Bangalore. Many of our volunteers have been protesting against land-grabbers in Karnataka for last 24 days. On Gandhi Jayanti, the fight enters 25th day and a huge rally is being organised near Townhall in Bangalore. This fight is being led by Sri H.S.Doreswamy, 96-year old, veteran freedom fighter – and Sri A T Ramaswamy, a former legislator who had investigated and submitted the report about land-encroachment during 2007. Many eminent people, including former Justice Santosh Hegde and Sri S R Hiremath, and several organisations are supporting the fight. Approximately 20,000 acres of public assets have been grabbed illegally – using forgery - in and around Bangalore city by land grabbers who have created fake and forged documents. Another 20,000 acres have been grabbed in Bangalore Rural district – and overall 4 lakh acres across Karnataka. The total loss to the Government is more than 2 lakh crores due to this.
