ABKYW resolves to promote, protect and preserve rich cultural heritage ITANAGAR, Jul 12: A general executive body meeting of Adi Baane Kebang Youth Wing (ABKYW) was held at at Itanagar today. While delivery the presidential speech ABKYW President Aling Pinggam said that the youth wing has decided to organize MISS ADI 2014 contest with an objective to provide a platform to the young girls to showcase their talents as well as to encourage and prepare them to participate in state and regional level beauty contests and informed that 40 percent of the total tickets sale would go to the fund of orphanage for poor and needy people. Pinggam highlighted the aims and objectives of the ABK Youth Wing. He said that ABK Youth Wing is to assist the ABK Apex Body to promote, protect and preserve the rich cultural heritage, sacred traditions, and ideal social customs of Adi society. As per the byelaws and constitution, ABK Youth Wing is to secure good educational opportunities, channelize the energy of youth in sports, arts, literacy and vocational activities, career counseling for school, college and university going students etc. Apart from this the ABKYW also working for empowering young people by building their capacity to achieve greater independence, overcoming constraints to their participation and providing them with opportunities to make decisions that affect their lives and well being. He also said that Adi Youths should join in this society for the upliftment of the community as a whole. He urged the every Adi members to discourage immoral and unlawful activities and warned that if anyone found indulge in such activities would be death with as per the democratic Adi customary laws by ABK Youth Wing. Earlier, ABKYW, General Secretary Toi Modi informed that this year’s beauty pageant with the theme “Beauty with Brain” aims at providing a platform to young female enthusiasts to showcase their talents in the field of fashion besides showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Adi and creating better understanding among people of the state. Tapir Tapen Secretary ABKYW, Chum Darang Secretary IPR East Siang, ABKYW, Vijay Tayeng Secretary Organisation East Siang ABKYW and Kaling Jamoh Assistant General Secretary ABKYW also spoke on the meeting.
