Obituary Virginia Annette Kelly February 18, 1959 – July 5, 2013 Virginia “Annette” Kelly, 54, passed away on July 5, 2013, at the Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO, following a lengthy illness related to COPD and Histoplasmosis. At the time of her death, she lived in Poplar Bluff, MO. Annette was the eldest daughter of Joseph Edmon Callihan, Sr. and (the late) Margaret Annette Callihan, and the step daughter of Jewel V. Callihan. Born on February 18, 1959, at a Naval Airbase near Patuxent River, MD, Annette grew up in Georgia with her four siblings; Patricia Beatrice Glenny, Joseph Edmon Callihan, Jr., Sharon Lynn Cauthen (Clyde), and Gregory Thomas Callihan (Tricia). Annette had two sons, William Mark Kelly, Jr. (36); and David Lee Kelly (33). Annette had nephews: Jack A Clemons (28); Christopher W Wolf (Kandy, son Charlie); Patrick W Wolf (Hannah, daughter Makenzie): and nieces: Rachel K Redmon (Andrew); and Shelby V Cauthen. Annette grew up in Georgia, spending most of her youth in Walnut Grove, GA, attending Loganville High School. An over-the-road long distance truck driver for over 20 years, Annette enjoyed seeing the world and meeting people from all over the country. She never met a stranger and had friends everywhere she went. Annette used a CB Radio as part of her trucking life and was known by her handle “Georgia Brat”. She had many colorful stories from the people she met and places she saw. Annette accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized at Journey Church in Covington, GA. She lived her faith openly. She was a very loving and demonstrative person who gave big hugs and always sent love to each individual family member whenever she visited or spoke on the phone. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013, starting at 1pm, at the First Christian Church of Jonesboro located at 2272 Walt Stephens Rd. Jonesboro, GA 30236. As this is a memorial service, we will not use the services of a funeral home and flower arrangements are appreciated but not encouraged. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations to the Barnes-Jewish Hospital or to the American Lung Association in the memory of Virginia Annette Kelly. The family wishes to give special thanks to Katina Humphrey who provided daily assistance and support to Annette during her lengthy illness while she lived in Poplar Bluff, MO. The ICU Nurses and Doctors of Barnes Jewish Hospital have our gratitude for their tireless efforts to provide healing and comfort to Annette during her hospital stays, never forgetting that she was more than a sick patient, she was a very beloved friend and family member. Annette’s ashes will be interned at a later date in the cemetery at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Cherry Log, GA.
