ABOUT US Bringing Women in Togetherness (BWIT) is a Greater Toronto Area women’s group that was founded in 2009. The goal of BWIT is to empower women through dialogue and social interaction to establish togetherness. Collectively as a group of women from a variety of academic and professional disciplines, we recognize the limitlessness of what we can accomplish through the strength of a sound team. We now want to reach out to our younger counterparts and we believe #ProjectProm is a great start! ABOUT #PROJECTPROM #ProjectProm2014 is a new initiative affiliated with BWIT, aimed to help girls with prom! As women who previously endured the unique experiences encountered within secondary school, we understand the significance of prom as a milestone event. This experience marks the end of one journey, and transition to embarking on another, and it is for this reason #ProjectProm2014 hopes to provide a beautiful start to a few special ladies. #ProjectProm2014 is targeted towards high school students within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) that are of African American and Caribbean descent. Additionally, BWIT would like to make this year’s prom special for young ladies that may need a boost of their confidence, and/or may not otherwise afford to glam out on this big day! Although clothes nor makeup make a person, we all love to feel pretty sometimes, and prom is the perfect place! Leading up to the big day, each young lady will receive a style consult meet and greet with the #ProjectProm2014 team. This will be the opportunity for us to brainstorm the special look that will be created just for them. On the day of prom we will provide full glam service with clothing, hair styling and a makeup look. OUR PA R T N E RS This year BWIT will be partnering with Toronto based makeup artists, stylists, women clothing stores, and media personnel, to make #ProjectProm2014 a reality. By organizing Project Prom and receiving the support of sponsors, we hope to create a memorable and lasting experience filled with self confidence and personal growth for the young women that participate.
