Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. *And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. The reason you are not following the world or yielding to the lusts of your flesh is so that you can follow Gods ways and yield to His will. But are you really drawing nearer to God? God wants to draw near to you and do many great things in your life but He will not force His will upon you. He wants you to draw nearer to Him willingly because He wants to surprise you. The way God showed up and blessed Noah in Genesis 6 and 7, is a good example of just how eager God is for us to draw nearer to Him. When our second text above describes Enochs walk with God, it seems as though God was trying to walk with people, but the people were not willing to walk with Him either, because they didnt know what they will benefit from God by walking with Him. The people were also too distracted by all the pleasures and cares of this life. When Enoch took the step to walk with God, God gave Him something he may not have believed was possible at that time. He experienced so much of Gods glory that he overcame death. The father of the prodigal son was so eager for his son to return home, so that the moment he sighted him, HE RAN TO HIM , fell on his neck and kissed him. This was a surprise to the son, but that was just the beginning of his surprises. God is eagerly waiting for you to draw nearer to Him because He wants to draw nearer to you. God drawing nearer to you will be more than what you can ask, think, or imagine. It will surprise you because what He has in mind for you is beyond you. Take that bold step to increase your seriousness and commitment with God. You will not regret it. DECLARATION: I receive grace to draw nearer and closer to You and to always long for Your ever abiding presence. I confess that You are all that I need and will ever need.
