ACA: (Barrys) Final Chapter. After 4 tries to get my somehow - TopicsExpress

ACA: (Barrys) Final Chapter. After 4 tries to get my somehow defunct password reset (I never even got INTO the website!), I gave up. I went shopping for health insurance on my own for an ACA compliant policy. I found one that works for me at BC/BS of AZ. My current policy was set to go from $336 per month to $402 per month. Canceled. The new policy was $532 per month(holy &%$*!!), but after my Govt credit, it ended up $201 per month. My deductible went up to $5500 per year from $2000. I decided that was OK for me. I just wanted protection from catastrophic medical expense. So I cut my monthly by (another) $135, since last years rate was nearly $200 lower than previous. In the end, ACA saves me money, though the coverage is a compromise on the deductible. My overall grade for me? C. I did keep coverage. I did save money. My blood pressure shot through the roof trying to deal with Healthcare.gov, and nobody there was ever able to solve the most basic issue; resetting my password! I know that many of you had poor results, and rising rates. I am not making excuses. Just telling my personal experience, good and bad. I still believe in the need for healthcare reform. I hope someday we will get the real thing.
