ACPA executives representing the North American concrete pipe industry met with congressional leaders in the Nation’s Capitol April 30 on Cement and Concrete Day. They flew into Washington to speak about industry activities and monitor progress on transportation and water-related legislation. The delegation met with Congressman Sam Graves (R) who serves on the Small Business Committee and Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. The Small Business Committee is charged with assessing and investigating the problems of small businesses and examining the impact of general business practices and trends on small businesses. In addition, they met with House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster (R) The Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has jurisdiction over all modes of transportation and other aspects of the U.S. national infrastructure, such as clean water and waste water management, the transport of resources by pipeline, flood damage reduction, the management of federally owned real estate and public buildings, the development of economically depressed rural and urban areas, disaster preparedness and response, and hazardous materials transportation.
