ACTOR TO LAUNCH A FORUM FOR ARTISTS Pushy Worried about the declining state of theatre and general art industry in Botswana, a Francistown based actor has decided to come up with an art forum where artists will have an opportunity to share ideas. Expected to be dubbed ‘Behind the Good Great Minds’, the actor Kealeboga Pushy Tsheko said the Backstage-Chart forum will provide artists with an opportunity to give, discuss and deliberate on problems impeding the growth of arts industry in general. “I want artists to identify challenges and provide solutions to the problems bedeviling us,” said Tsheko, popularly known as Pushy in the arts industry. He said the chart has got the potential of providing the government being the main sponsor of arts with ideas on how best to grow the industry. Pushy added that the intention is to draw the attention of the corporate world in understanding the advantages of partnering with the arts industry. “Nobody is evaluating our industry. And people are just doing as they please. But this has led to the industry to die a natural death. So the onus is on us as artistes to ensure that our industry does not die,” said Pushy.
