ALBUM PREVIEW 3: here is my cover of the best song ever written on one chord: #TheBeatles Tomorrow Never Knows. In 1966, a little band called The Beatles influenced by the drone in traditional Indian music, recorded a now legendary song using only one chord. Whilst one chorded songs are quite common in certain types of dance and jazz music, in pop music, its actually quite difficult to get a decent vocal melody that doesnt sound like the sort of crap you hear being sung over the top of dancey House tracks. It really did take a songwriter of Lennons calibre to pull this off. Of course, the lyrics are deep and profound, the reverse tape loops always amaze me (they were mixed live with George Martin and the bands hands on different faders) and Pauls idea for the syncopation of the drum beat all come together perfectly in this rock masterpiece. I listened to lots of different interpretations of this song before I recorded it, and whilst there were plenty of decent versions out there (my favourite being a soul version by blues singer Junior Parker) there was nothing in the electro arena. So I figured I did have something to contribute to what is one of the most covered songs in rock music.
