AM I WRONG? Thursday 7:45a on Country 600 CKAT. Well its official, the city and the contractor responsible for the Pinewood Park drive sewer construction have parted ways. Which means the project wont get done anytime soon. The 2 parties disagree on whos to blame for all the delays, with the contractor stating that the assesment done by the citys hired engineers didnt properly outline the potential water problems they encountered while the city says the report was detailed and complete. There was talk the city would take the Sturgeon Falls company to court to recoup part of the contract but all that would have accomplished is delay the project even further and maybe fatted the wallet of a few lawyers. So instead the city paid them for the work done with no penalites and terminated the contract allowing the contractor to take his backhoe and drive it back to Sturgeon. The plan now is to re-tender the contract and while Im no expert on sewer installations whoever takes it on ought to make sure they bring a few sump pumps with them. AM I WRONG? Andy Wilson.
