My brave cousin shared this video and it moved me in a great way, not just the video but her having the strength and courage to speak up, she is so young and yet seems to be older than me in many ways. I wonder how much better, more productive my life may have been if I have had the courage she possesses. I know that for many my struggles with anxiety are not a secret, but my depression I have hidden away from most, keeping it in a small box trying to use education, logic, a fake smile, and many other useless masks to try to make it go away. As I write this I hope to help all those on my page who are scared, lost and confused by their illness. We need to quit hiding this, be human and yes even be sick as long as that is what we are, I would love to see a day when the stigma comes off mental illness and is treated the way it should be with compassion, education and love.
