AN OPEN LETTER TO OUR NEWLY SWORN IN RECTOR PROFESSOR OLUDELE ADELANWA ITIOLA Change is the most constant thing in life …2013 witness the exit of a Arch.Tokunbo Fowode as the Rector of Our dear Moshood Abiola polytechnic. However there are burning issues which the largest stakeholder of the citadel of learning (students) want the new Rector to address. We will not want to border ourselves with the rudiment behind your appointment as new rector because we know mapoly is a microcosm of Nigeria society where politics counts, however, we want you sir to use your first 100 days in office to address these: -Quick intervention on the ongoing internal strike: we want you to address the griviances of the Mapoly Asup with upmost diplomacy and sincerity to that the strike will be called of in due time. -Continuation of 60/40 payment plan for the school fees we will not want any change from such payment plan considering the economic situations of Nigeria. -Restoration of student unionism back on campus..this will afford the students the opportunity to exhibit their leadership skills as well as take part in decision making on issues affecting their welfarism. We condemn system of caretaker..Beca use the system cannot give the students true representation. -Completion of our hostel….to prevent gross exploitation of students from Oluwo and its environs landlords -Limitation of unhealthy external political influence on the campus activities -Improvement of learning facilities….thi s includes construction of more classes and upgrade of our science laboratory, engineering workshop ,Mass communication studio, ICT studio etc -Training and rebranding of campus security men to prevent undue harassment of students -Reform of registration process to make the process less stressful and cumbersome.. -Upgrade of school library which can only accommodate less than 5% of the students population .Prompt release of results and resuscitation of summer class for students that have carry over most especially (final year student that has just one or two carry over) _training and retraining of lecturers to make the curriculum more captivating…..
