AN OPEN LETTER TO THE SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS Dear San Francisco Giants, From a pastor who serves a congregation in the SF Bay Area, I’d like to thank you for the following…. 1. Thank you for showing everyone else that there isn’t anything inherently wrong with being a fanatic. 2. Thank you for taking the game to multiple extra innings last weekend thereby causing people to remain in front of the TV for an extra 3-4 hours. Now, no one is allowed to complain when the worship service goes over by 15 minutes. 3. Thank you for reminding us that we can come early to an event. 4. Thank you for the expensive food and drinks at AT&T Park. Suddenly the money we ask for missions support isn’t all that much. 5. Thank you for the expensive and inconvenient parking. My church’s parking situation doesn’t seem that dire after all. 6. Thank you for teaching us to stick with the team even in the middle of a losing streak. We are reminded to stick with our church family through good times and bad. 7. Thank you for working so well as a team. We strive to do the same. 8. Thank you for having team members of different shapes, sizes, and levels of freakiness. Ours is also a multi-strange congregation--from the pastor on down. 9. Thank you for every time you win on a Saturday. We feel it on Sunday morning ;) 10. Thank you for keeping us entertained. God knows life is difficult enough. Sincerely, Pastor Ed
