AND THERES MORE: This is from the original author as he responds to my comment. I would edit to save you the agony of reading all of it but I cannot...... Nick Denzin Thank you for your fast response, I appreciate the chance to speak with you. To begin, I was not the person whose ID was refused. That person is almost 30. Although for the record, I am 21, with proof available on my facebook page or upon request. It’s not that I don’t understand liquor licensing but it’s strange to me that a bar based in a tourist destination, as Aspen is, is totally unfamiliar with foreign ID. To that end, every other restaurant and bar in this lovely city has accepted foreign driver licenses with no hesitation, which makes me question your staff training program. Your server was slow to clean the previous occupant’s table, with almost 5 minutes passing before the server removed the previous occupant’s tip and drinks. Your server was then totally incapable of interpreting a foreign driver’s license, despite that ID being in English and clearly stating “D.O.B”, asking ‘How old are you?’. “Gentlemanly” may be a subjective critique, but “able to read a legal document in English, with clear headings” is another. I was particularly keen to visit your establishment, having heard and read many positive reviews, and I was disappointed. The server was slow to serve, even less inclined to read a document in English. But no matter, we went to another venue and had a lovely night. Thank you for your attention but we were happy to take our business elsewhere. 5 hours ago · Like · 1 Nick, as i just stated above I was able to actually watch your experience. Your family sat at a table as the woman who was previously there was getting up. My bartender cleared the table within one minute of you taking the table. She brought you menus within another 30 seconds and then went to the next table to take an order while you perused our menu. After taking the order she cleared another table and then brought the four of you water. this all transpired in less than 5 minutes. Your insistence that she could not decipher the ID is mistaken. Often when presented with an ID a server will ask the date of birth as they navigate to where the information is and, at the same time gauging the persons response.. Within 10 seconds she said (and said it nicely), I am sorry but we do not accept foreign drivers licenses. Regardless of our policy at the time being flawed your assessment and judgement is just plainly rude. You walked into a bar with every table and bar seat occupied. Without any consideration you sat at a table that hadnt been cleared and now you tell me that your expectation was for my bartender to drop everything and expedite your service. Slow.......if you do not possess, literally, 1 to 2 minutes of patience then you are welcome to go somewhere else. Next time you enter an establishment have the respect to allow the staff to clear a table before seating yourself. It allows us to properly greet a guest instead of having to clear a table while occupied. It is then that the the server is ready to attend to your needs. I am not writing this to you but so any other readers of my reviews will see how some reviews are baseless and written with an unjust pen. Good Day.
