AND THIS... It seems that I struck a nerve with the last post. Ive already received dozens of angry emails and comments that accuse me of everything from sensationalizing the death of a child, to slandering people with mental illness, to blowing the issue of Christian child abuse (or murder) completely out of proportion... Dont want to talk about the Florida woman who killed a child while reenacting a Bible story in order to test Gods willingness to intervene? Well, lets move our attention to demon possession in Oklahoma... Do I think all Christians are horrible people that cant wait to abuse and murder their children? OF COURSE NOT! However, when people justify their actions based on the Bible, religious indoctrination, and dangerous practices - yes, I will remind my Christian friends and readers that there is a slippery slope. Isnt it interesting how the most devout Christians are labeled as Godly or Christlike right up to the point that carry out an act that earns them the label mentally incompetent to stand trial? Like I said - a slippery slope. What is the tipping point, do you think? People can get angry with me all they want for sharing these heartbreaking stories, but - people need to start seeing this stuff more often. (Since they rarely make national news, as they are bad for ratings...)
