ANNOUNCEMENTS 12-2-13 All boys and girls golfers will have a meeting after school in Coach Carrs classroom (G108) from 3:10 – 4:00 Please make arrangements to be there and have a ride home. Tell your ride to pick you up from the Tennis courts. Boys soccer practice starts today at the cemetery field at 3:30, and it will last until approximately 5:30. No one is allowed on the turf field today or tomorrow, because it is being cleaned. For anyone that is interested in playing tennis, there will be a short meeting tomorrow after school. It will be held at 3:30, at the tennis courts. There will be a mandatory Stand by Peace meeting this Wednesday Dec. 4th at 7AM. Attention all sophomores: Registration for the PLAN test starts today through Dec 13th if you want an opportunity to take a timed test to prepare for your college entrance exams, come by the guidance office with $13 and register. If you are a student planning on attending Lamar University we may have a scholarship just for you. Please come by the guidance for more information. Spanish club: bring 2 bags of candy. 1 bag of chocolate 1 bag hard candy by Friday Dec 7. We need to meet on Monday Dec 9th to make baggies “It’s beginning to look a lot Like Christmas” Student Council is challenging YOU to a door decorating contest. The contest will begin on Monday December 1st run through Friday December 13th. This year, you may choose any class period to participate. If you are interested in participating, please contact Mrs. Shank, and join us in spreading some much needed Christmas cheer! DUAL CREDIT STUDENTS: Spring registration is in progress. If you have not seen Mr. Holcombe to get your paperwork, you need to see him as soon as possible. He is on campus every Tuesday and Wednesday. COLLEGE WELDING AT CHS: Juniors and seniors, Brazosport College offers college dual credit welding at the high school. If you are interested in welding, this would be a great opportunity to start your welding classes to earn a college certificate in welding. There is high demand for skilled welders, in our area. If you are interested, please see Mr. Holcombe, the dual credit counselor, in the Guidance Office. He is on campus every Tuesday and Wednesday. And, by the way, these welding courses are paid for by the school district. STAAR Retest schedule: Tuesday, December 3 English 1 Reading Wednesday, December 4 English 2 Writing Thursday, December 5 English 2 Reading Tuesday, December 10 Algebra 1 Wednesday, December 11 Biology Class rosters will be posted throughout the campus later in the week. JUNIORS! Go by C106 to get a Butter Braid order form for the Prom fundraiser!! EVERYONE NEEDS TO PARTICIPATE!!! Do not get a form if you know you won’t sell them. There is still time to help fill the Toys for Tot boxes. If you would like, you may bring your new unwrapped gift to place in the boxes located in the front office. Thank you for your support. Fall Sports Banquet will be December 9th at 6:00PM at the Columbia Heritage Hall (old JH) PRE SALE ONLY!!!!- Athletes should purchase these tickets before the deadline of December 5. NO TICKETS will be available at the door the day of the Banquet! Tickets will be $10- athletes will be provided a ticket but anyone accompanying them will need a ticket for the meal. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Scholarship application is now available online. This is an $18,000 scholarship payable over 4 years and our High School will have at least one recipient. You must have ACT or SAT scores and plan on attending school in Texas. You can access the application at hlsr or come by the guidance office for more information.
