ANNOUNCEMENTS TO STUDENTS Academic Advising begins Monday, October 21, 2013 for Spring 2014 registration. Make your advising appointment now. Registration begins November 18, 2013. PLEASE NOT: the alphabet distribution for designation of advisors has changed. If your last name begins with A-D see Marjorie Williams-Smith; E-M see Dr. Jane Brown; N-Z see Dr. Floyd Martin. All Art Education students should see Dr. Jeffrey Grubbs. If you have 100+ hours see Aj Smith. MAKE ACADEMIC PROGRESS Your records are checked each semester to confirm that you are making satisfactory academic progress. If you are on Federal financial aid you will receive a letter notifying you if you: Are not keeping pace of progression (You must complete 67% of UALR overall attempted credit hours to stay on pace.) Exceed the timeframe for credit hours. (180 hours is the maximum for undergraduate students. 45 hours is the maximum for post-bac students.) Have less than 2.00 GPA. Meet all requirements for the Academic Challenge Scholarship or other financial aid. If you are receiving financial aid, confer with your advisor about the requirements for your aid for each academic year. DECLARE YOUR MAJOR MINOR Academic progress begins with declaring a major and minor. See your advisor for help with this process. Know your degree requirements? Ask your advisor!! Every student has a different degree plan. To receive information about your degree consult with your academic advisor for correct information. Do not ask your friends. KEEP A FILE OF YOUR ACADEMIC RECORDS. You should receive copies of all forms issued to you by the University. Keep a file of your copies of all advising records and all correspondence with from UALR. USE YOUR PROPER NAME WHEN CONDUCTING BUSINESS WITH UALR When you make an advising appointment, or corresponding by email with your advisor, use your proper name as given to the University, and use your UALR email address.
