ANOTHER GREAT BARBECUE!!! A poem sent in by a Nigerian medical doctor, in the light of the Muslim Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, enjoy! Nowadays, the seconds tick so slow And the minutes take so long to make the hour Sure, I guess folks are dying to know How the length of the day concerns a brother But aint you guys aware of this month called Dhul-hijjah? When believers embark on pilgrimage And as one of the important rites of hajj Animals are sacrificed on Eid-day So now, I guess you can understand ma concern At this seemingly longer duration of the days and nights I can see the cattles, rams and sheep drinking from the cistern Munching the grasses and doubling in sizes Acquiring more bulk for the coming barbecue And I cant wait to return from the Eid ground So the Mallam can do what he gotta do A long queue of rams to make the round The big metallic pots have resurfaced With the firewood pile emitting smoky flame Aroma of fried rice tormenting ma airways Assortments of exotic drinks adorning the moving trays The smell in the air gets to all and sundry Needless to say , It is time for the great festivity It is here again, the Great EID_KABIR
