APC Can’t Rule Nigeria – Lamido In what appears to be a self- contradiction, Governor Sule Lamido over the weekend declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC), a party formed by aggrieved politicians, cannot rule Nigeria. Governor Lamido had in 2013 predicted that the APC could take over power in 2015. Alhaji Lamido, who in the past acknowledged the wisdom behind the formation of APC, has now discredited the party as a political party that lacks the basic ingredient required for the formation of a democratic political party. He, however, faulted the party for being based on individual popularity and selfish interest as against ideological belief, which is fundamental to the formation of any strong and acceptable democratic political party. The governor made this assertion over the weekend while receiving the members of Nigerian Guild of Editors who paid him a courtesy visit after holding their quarterly meeting in the state. Lamido noted that Nigerians cannot take the risk of handing power to a group of aggrieved politicians that have left their former political parties simply because the denied leadership slots. “Without any iota of doubt, I can say if you remove Buhari from APC, the party could not survive for three months, unlike PDP which was formed based on ideology and national interest; it can afford to drop anybody who misbehaves,” he said. “The PDP of today can thrive without any personality within the party of which is not the same in other political parties that were anchored around somebody’s fame or popularity”, stressing that “Nigeria as the largest assembly of Blacks cannot be governed by fame”. Alhaji Lamido also defended the PDP’s zoning of the presidency, saying it was done in the interest of the country even though the system is totally undemocratic
