APC Decries Sack Of Perm Sec, Tasks Fayose To Explain Roads Cash Refund The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has criticized the sack of the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Mrs Bimpe Aderiye, saying the manner of her sack through radio announcement amounted to disrespect for public service law and a throwback to the military era. The party also asked Governor Ayodele Fayose to tell Ekiti people why he denied collecting the refund of the money that former Governor Kayode Fayemi spent on the construction of Federal Ado-Ifaki and Ado-Akure roads. Reacting to Aderiyes retirement through a public announcement on the state media directing her to hand over the property of the ministry in her care to the next senior worker in the ministry without any reason for the retirement, the APC State Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatubosun, said it is regrettable that Ekiti had returned to the era of instability in the civil service. The APC spokesman also tasked Governor Ayodele Fayose to explain to Ekiti people what he did with the money refunded on Federal roads as announced by the Minister of State for Works, Dayo Adeyeye, at President Goodluck Jonathans campaign rally in Ado-Ekiti, adding that Ekiti people would also want to know how the governor has been spending billions of naira that have been collected so far by Fayose without paying workers salaries. We thank Adeyeye for letting Ekiti people know that Governor Fayose had collected the money, even though the governor had on several occasions denied collecting any kobo from the Federal Government and so he had no money to pay workers their September salary. The question is; where is the money? What is Fayose doing with the money, Olatubosun asked. He said it is regrettable that Aderiye was sacked for allegedly criticizing the drafting of teachers to join Jonathans campaign rally in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, saying punishing top echelon of the civil service for following the service rules would ruin professionalism in the serrvice on the altar of partisan politics. He cited recent sack of some permanent secretaries in the civil service, who were dismissed over alleged loyalty to the former administration of Dr Kayode Fayemi, stressing that tying political yoke around the necks of top civil servants would damage the integrity of the civil service and hurt quality professional services in the public service. Why would any governor dismiss Mrs Aderiye, a graduate of the prestigious National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos, who has been described as an active, brilliant bureaucrat and an avid problem-solver?. She was credited as the catalyst for the recent World Bank-assisted project on education, State Education Programme Investment Project (SEPIP). Ekiti is at the forefront of compliance with World Bank conditions for accessing the funds, Olatubosun said, adding: SEPIP is a World Bank-sponsored project which would also improve teachers availability in the core subject areas, such as, English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Integrated Science in Junior Secondary Schools. He expressed dismay over why a woman of such pedigree would be sacked summarily through a radio announcement without the woman having any premonition of such political victimisation for performing her professional duties.
