APC reschedules date for guber primaries - Lai Mohammed The All Progressives Congress (APC) has made a slight adjustment to the timetable for its primary elections, rescheduling the date for the governorship primary poll to December 4. The revised timetable obtained by Daily Trust yesterday indicated that the state House of Assemblies primary election will take place on December1 . Primary elections for the House of Representatives and the Senate which were both slated for December 7 will now take place on December 7 and 8 respectively. However, the date for the presidential primary election and national convention remained unchanged, taking place on December 10. This made it the third time the APC would change its timetable for primaries in the build up to 2015. A source informed Daily Trust that the party’s substantive timetable has been approved by the National Working Committee (NWC) and the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has given December 11 as the deadline for all political parties to submit their schedules for primaries. The PDP and the APC have changed their timetable for primaries, raising suspicions that the parties were changing their schedules in order to take advantage of each other to poach on aggrieved members. The amendment made to the APC constitution which allows members to contest for positions upon defection, gives new members equal opportunities to contest positions with older members.
