***APPEAL ON BEHALF OF NORTH YORKSHIRE POLICE: Appeal to find Cleveland taxi passengers following fatal collision *** Police investigating a collision in which Northallerton and Thirsk taxi driver, Peter Maltby died, have issued an appeal to find Peter’s final passengers. Officers believe that on the night he died, Saturday 6 September 2014, 59-year-old Peter took a fare from Thirsk into the Cleveland area. It is unknown whether that included one passenger or a number of passengers. From the investigation so far, officers believe that his Ford C-max travelled along the A19 at around 9.35pm and into the Stokesley, Nunthorpe, Marton and Hemlington areas before travelling back towards Thirsk, where he was due to pick up another fare at 10.15pm. Sadly, Peter never picked up his 10.15pm fare after he was fatally injured when his car left the road on the A172 near Ingleby Cross. Traffic Sergeant Andy Fraser of North Yorkshire Police’s Major Collision Investigation Team, said: “It is important that we find Peter’s final passengers as they could be of great help to our investigation. “If you took a taxi from Thirsk to the Cleveland area on the night of Saturday 6 September, I ask you to please get in touch with us.” Anyone with any information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for the Major Collision Investigation Team.
