APPO holds PNP-Media relation workshop Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) holds a three- day PNP-Media relation workshop yesterday, August 28, 2013 at Multipurpose hall of APPO. This was third time that APPO has held this kind of activity seeking to inform and develop the skills of every uniformed personnel. A brief program in the morning was organized to welcome the participant’s coming from the different police stations in the province. These include PIO and PCR personnel as well as investigators of their respective unit. The presence of different media bodies is also present in the said activity. PO3 Nida Gregas, C, PIO of Aklan Police Provincial Office serves as the speaker and lecturer in the morning’s affair. She tackled about different techniques in providing good quality news as well as guidelines in dealing with other sectors most especially the media as PNP’s partner in disseminating news to the public. Meanwhile, kaibahang Lyneth Relator, program director of GMA DYRU in Kalibo was also one of the resource speaker in the afternoon. Relator discussed strategies on how to deal with media entities and give further information in giving more reliable news. Principles on how to be effective PIO personnel are also discussed in the seminar-workshop. A lively discussion and on the spot news writing was done in the said activity. The seminar-workshop aims to develop not only the skills of every PNP-PIO personnel in disseminating news but also to have a better understanding and grasp to the responsibilities given to them as part of the PNP organization. It will eventually produce good rapport between the PNP and the media entities and will produce reliable news for the public in general. This, Senior Superintendent Pedrito Escarilla, provincial director of Aklan said that this is one way of harnessing the relationship of PNP and media bodies. “Isa itong malaking pagkakataon upang mapagtibay natin ang ating adhikain na makapagbigay ng tama at maayos na impormasyon sa publiko patungkol sa mga isyung tumatalakay sa kaayusan at katahimikan sa ating paligid.” he said.
