ARE YOU OK? IS GOD PROUD OF YOU? –Part 2 (CONTINUATION ON THE MEDITATION POSTED YESTERDAY). We cannot by ourselves “become OK enough” to be pleasing in the sight of the Lord. We cannot by our own efforts “become innocent” before the Lord! And certainly we can not without God’s grace become “OK enough for God to be proud of us” (see yesterday’s post), thereby earning for ourselves eternal worth! What addition can mortal man make to God’s infinite love! With or without man’s awareness and participation God is forever God! God is the same, God is Love, God is Creator of all that there is, seen and unseen (Mal 3:6; Rev 1:8; 1 John 4:16). God is The Lord Almighty. But now, through Christ God’s main relationship to us is that Heand we’ve become his beloved children . Encourage one another with these words (1 Thes 5:9-11)! God loves us so much; he has given to us “his only Son…” (John 3:16), so that whoever believes in the Son will become pleasing enough to be raised up on the last day! Those who believe in him will be counted as righteous and dear in the sight of God (Gen 15:6), and will be given the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:37-40; Rom 8:15-17). By promising to us the gift of the Holy Spirit God intends the very best for man whom he originally created in his image and likeness (Genesis 1:26-28)! He Himself describes the gift of the Holy Spirit as the most important gift to be desired and which He indeed gives to his children (Luke 11:11-13)! It’s the Holy Spirit that will endear us to God so much that God will refer to us as his children, and will raise us up for eternal life (John 1:12; 1 John 3:1-3). The presence and working of the Holy Spirit in our mortal lives which were originally marred by our original fallen state or “original sin” makes God look at us differently, favorably now! God can be proud of us! (Tomorrow we hope to share on how to please God enough for Him to be proud of us). ERIC E E OKIROR.
