ARIZONA, UTAH, COLORADO, OR NEW MEXICO RESCUE NEEDED!! No pull - TopicsExpress

ARIZONA, UTAH, COLORADO, OR NEW MEXICO RESCUE NEEDED!! No pull fee and transport is available for rescues! This is Zir, a male with an exotic name and colors who came to the McKinley County Humane Society in Gallup, New Mexico, with another dog, Sensor (see a photo of Sensor in the comments below). They may be a bonded pair (both are Heeler mixes), about 1-2 years old, and much too thin to survive the grueling winter on the streets. Zir and Sensor are in an overcrowded, high kill facility, an old warehouse actually, heated with coal, where dogs must be doubled or tripled up in the handful of kennels. There is almost no foot traffic at the facility, few adoptions, but nearly 500 animals are taken in every month. One strategy to reduce the euthanasia rate is to do a rescue transfer--network the animals to rescues in three bordering states (Arizona, Utah, Colorado), or with already-filled-to-the-max rescue groups in New Mexico, where they will have a better chance at survival. Transport is regularly scheduled to Utah and Colorado, and can be arranged to Arizona and rescues in New Mexico on request. The next van heads north to Colorado on December 20. If you can tag for rescue, contact krisgruda@hotmail, or call the facility directly at (505) 726-1453. They are open Monday through Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm; Saturday 9 am to 3:30 pm; closed Sunday. You can see and album of some of the dogs on their Facebook page: facebook/GallupShelter Heres what helps the most: Copy this post from Facebook, and email it to rescue groups, large and small, in these four states. Ask them to support the Gallup shelter through rescue transfer.
