ASATRU AND BIOPHILIA Evolutionary biologist Edmund O. Wilson uses the term "biophilia" as "the connections that human beings subconsciously seek with the rest of life.” He proposed the possibility that the deep affiliations humans have with nature are rooted in our biology. Unlike phobias, which are the aversions and fears that people have of things in the natural world, philias are the attractions and positive feelings that people have toward certain habitats, activities, and objects in their natural surroundings. Human preferences toward things in nature, while refined through experience and culture, are the product of biological evolution. As I have matured, I find that I have a deeper respect for, and love of, the natural world. All of life seems more precious to me than it did when I was younger and more self-absorbed. Biophilia has made my life incredibly richer. Biophilia is, of course, directly related to our spiritual connection with nature and thus is essentially linked to Asatru. "Asatru serves Life." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biophilia_hypothesis Hail the Gods! Hail the AFA! Steve
