AT THE FEET OF THE RABBI DAILY DEVOTIONAL 29TH AUGUST 2014 REMIND GOD “Put me in remembrance…” Isaiah 44:5. It sounds confusing to ask someone to remind God of His word because we know that God never forgets. So, we begin why God will ask us to put Him in remembrance of His words. We will notice in the life of most of the kings that whenever they were faced with fierce opposition of the enemies, they would put God in remembrance of His word of promise to Israel and they always ended up in victory at last. Did God actually forget? Today, I am led to share more light in this scripture as we put God in remembrance of His word of promise about August and expect a last minute miracle in any area that we are yet to receive the promise. When we put God in remembrance of His word, we actually achieve 3 things. Firstly, we remind ourselves of God’s promise to us and in the process, our faith is restored and hope revived that God is aware of this matter and have already given His verdict before hand. Thus, this act is a good one for us since it moves us closer to trusting God than before. Secondly, it reminds us that God hears when we call as in the process of putting Him in remembrance, we re-awake that consciousness that He is neither deaf nor dumb towards us and this in turns acts on our faith and revives our hope on Him. Thirdly, we are able to wrestle with the issue at hand and if it is a case where an enemy is involved, we prevail over him as we wrestle in prayers on the issue. So, we realize that this act of putting God in remembrance is entirely for our benefit; our faith, hope and warfare. It helps us like Jacob, hold on till we get a change and prevail. When we remember God’s promises and take it up again, we put off every activities of the enemy in that area of our life and we prevail. In other words, we get ready for battle and fight till we win. We must not quit because a promise tarry but rather, hold on to God’s word and wrestle with it in our place of prayers till our peace is restored. When you have a word from God, we have something tangible to wrestle with. Putting God in remembrance therefore is more of warfare and thanksgiving rather than complaining because we realize that the object of the exercise is not to make God remember because He never forgot but to wrestle out the fulfillment of that word.
