Treating cancer survivors creates emotional demands on health care teams, and consequently, reactions have been observed in health care providers such as depression, anxiety, persistent trauma imagery, sleep disturbances, isolation from family and friends and frequent illness, along with loss of mission optimism. Oncology professionals can incur harm on emotional, cognitive, physical, relationship and spiritual levels, often times allowing these issues to go unaddressed for years or the entire duration of their career.
