AURORA PREDICTIONS: Lots of questions lately on this topic, so let me explain it this way: Lets say you lived down a dirt road somewhere, way off the main highway and wanted to know when a green car would drive past your house so you could take a photo of it. One is certain to appear sooner or later. You can sit on the porch waiting for one to go past, but aint nobody got time fo dat. :-) So you arrange with the milk bar up the road to continually look at the passing traffic, and ring you when they see a green car headed your way. With that system, you have a far better chance of taking a photo of a green car. If you replace the milk bar with the ACE satellite, thats pretty much how the various Aurora alert systems operate. It still wont be perfect though. Sometimes a green car will pass the milkbar, turn into a side road, and it not go past your place. And at other times a green car might take a different route, and go past your house without passing the milk bar, and therefore they didnt contact you. And that pretty much sums up why we cannot give definite aurora predictions.
