AUSTRALIA NATIONAL YOUTH TEAM INFORMATION Dear Players and Parents, This is a letter to inform you that the Australian Under 18 National Youth Team will be hosting its 2015 open team tryouts on the12th of October 2014 in Perth and the 18th and 19th of October 2014 in Melbourne and Sydney respectively. The team selected from these sessions will have the honour of representing Australia at the World U/18 Division IIB Championships to be held in Novi Sad, Serbia from the 15th until the 23rd of March 2015. Male players born 1997, 1998 and 1999 are entitled to try out for the team and must hold Australian citizenship to be eligible for selection. The dates for the Tryout Sessions are as follows: Note: You are only required to attend one session October 12th – Perth (Xtreme Ice Arena) • 8:45am – 9:15am Parents/Players Meeting @ Xtreme Ice Arena • 9:15am Player Registration • 10:00am - 12:00pm On-Ice Evaluation &Testing • 12:15pm - 1:15pm Off-Ice Evaluation & Testing Herb Graham Recreation Centre 38 Ashbury Crescent Mirrabooka WA 6022 October 18th – Melbourne (Medibank Icehouse) • 12:00pm – 12:30pm Parents/Players Meeting Ballet Room @ Medibank Icehouse • 12:30pm Player Registration • 1:15pm - 3:15pm On-Ice Evaluation & Testing • 3:30pm - 4:30pm Off-Ice Evaluation & Testing October 19th – Sydney (Liverpool Catholic Club Ice Rink) • 8:15am – 8:45am Parents/Players Meeting @ Liverpool Catholic Club Ice Rink • 8:45am Player Registration • 9:30am - 11:30am On-Ice Evaluation & Testing • 11:45am - 12:45pm Off- Ice Evaluation & Testing Note: SA, QLD and ACT players are entitled to attend any tryout of their choice at their own travel expense. The cost for the session will be $150. This tryout fee is also applicable to overseas players who wish to be considered for the team. This will include the following: • 120 minute on-ice Evaluation • 60 - 90 minute off-ice Evaluation • Player/Parent meeting (Please note that this meeting will be held BEFORE the on-ice tryout) • Feedback, after the tryout, if requested. On-Ice Requirements: • Hockey Equipment a. Mouth Guards and Neck Guards are mandatory b. All players must have their names on their helmet c. Water Bottle d. A training jersey with your name on the back would be advisable Off-Ice Requirements: • Off-Ice Training Gear a. Players must wear appropriate training equipment b. Players must have running shoes – no other shoes will be acceptable Players/Parents Meeting: The Players/Parents meeting will consist of an information session on the tryout selection format as well as the tournament and its costs. We will also be there to answer any questions that the parents might have in regards to the team/selection/camp/travelling etc. This is an opportunity for not only us to introduce ourselves to both the players and parents, but also for the parents to ask any questions that they might have. Team Announcement: Post selection tryouts, a NYT 2015 squad will be announced within 2 weeks of the last tryout. All players will receive a letter by email informing them of their selection results. Players selected to the squad will either be “Roster” players or “Reserve” players listed in non-preferential order. A final team will be announced during the Christmas break in the AJIHL. The final 2015 National Youth team will consist of 18 players and 2 Goalies. Cost to this trip is to be finalised closer to the tryouts and information will be made available then. We expect a cost of approximately $5,500 AUD however this is to be confirmed in the near future. Tryout Attendance: Attached is the form that you will be required to fill in, before being allowed to tryout; please have these filled in and returned to IHA before arrival at tryouts. This will allow a faster processing of all players attending the session. All players will be required to bring a current and valid copy of an Australian passport (photocopy acceptable) to the tryout!
