*** AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT - MELISSA COLLINS *** ** Links in comments below! ** Author Q & A What have you been working on lately? My current work in progress is Let Love Heal. This will be the third book in The Love Series. I’d like to do a book for each of the characters. I also have two stand alones that I’m working on – From the Wreckage and the other one is currently untitled. yet, but I hope it’ll be exciting news for Inked in the Steel City readers. ;) What does your typical writing day look like? Crazy! Over the summer I’m a stay at home mom of three little boys so my time in front of the computer is hard earned. A lot of my writing happens while they nap and after they go to bed. When I work (full time as a teacher) during the school year, a lot of my writing happens when I’m not grading. What motivates you to write? I love reading so what motivates me to write is to let people read a story that is full of emotion. Books to which I have an emotional response are my favorite and I am motivated to do the same for other readers. Are your books drawn from real life experiences or entirely fictional? A combination of both. I wish there was a guy out there as perfect as Reid, but, well, we can all dream right?! What writers do you feel were influential in your development as an author? I have drawn tons of inspiration from Jasinda Wilder, Bella Andre and Ella Fox. I love their stories and how they bring emotion into everything they write. I remember when I first thought about writing, I messaged Jasinda Wilder on Facebook asking her for advice and she was so open and helpful. I’m still in awe of the fact that she was willing to answer my questions. When did you truly feel like an author? I think once the reviews (both good and bad) started coming in. It meant that people, like real life people, not just my friends and family, were reading my books. To me that’s crazy – people I have never known, from all parts of the world have bought, read and reviewed my book. Do you have a favorite character from one of your books? If so ... why? Yes – I wholeheartedly admit to being head over heels in love with Reid. He is hot, and dreamy and so swoon worthy. He’s dealt with a world of troubles but there’s still a soft sweetness to him that I absolutely adore. Do you have any advice for aspiring authors? Keep writing. Write every day even if you don’t want to. Then build up enough courage to finally share what you’re writing. You never know who is going to fall in love with the world you just created. Oh and wine – lots and lots of wine. Not sure how much that will help your writing, but you can’t go wrong with wine.
