About 3 or 4 years ago, I started incorporating Yerba Mansa (Anemopsis californica) into my own personal materia medica a lot more. It is such a wonderful medicinal plant across a wide spectrum of organ systems, illness and injury used both internally and externally. Last December I bought a few pounds of the fresh root from Michael Cottingham. He took great care in packaging and sending them and they arrived in super condition. I planted about half between the home garden, the school garden and I also put a couple in a pot to let them get a head start over the cold snap. The outside ones are coming out everywhere now like crazy, but the ones that were potted are of course several weeks ahead of them. The rest I fresh-tinctured and have been using over the winter a lot throughout the clinics, clients, etc. Im really looking forward to growing this plant here now, as this is a first for me to try to cultivate it. It appears so far to be very easy to take care of if you can mulch it well and protect it from drought.
