About 7 years ago I was in my front yard and a young boy and girl went riding by on their bikes. The boy was behind the girl and he says to the girl, Hey, Im supposed to be the leader!!! I was reminded of that tonight while going for a run. As I was running, a Mom was walking and her son (about age 3) was on his bike with training wheels. I heard the boy riding behind me and he got closer and closer. The Mom is yelling at her son to stop, however he hears nothing. The boy proceeds to pass me on his bike and jump off the curb, as if the curb was the finish line. No words were exchanged, but he knew and I knew that he clearly won. Both of these accounts remind me of a husband and wife in marriage. God has put in every man to lead, conquer, compete and be the head. The boy racing me tonight was no more than four years old and he already has it in him to be the leader and win!!! God designed the woman to be the follower and helper of man. When a couple takes a long car ride the woman will typically say what a nice drive it was. The man will say something about how they made good time. I encourage husbands to lead your family the way God wants you to. Step up and take that role, own it! Every wife wants to follow a God loving and God fearing husband. I encourage the wives (especially myself), learn to be a good follower. Despite what the world says and the feminist movement garbage, we love a leading and conquering husband. Following means shutting our mouths when we dont want to, trusting our husband and the decisions he makes for our family, and ultimately knowing you are a daughter of the most high God who loves you and has your back. Just try following for a while, rather than questioning everything or always giving your two sense, and see what benefits will come from it. Youll find your husband likes the new you and will seek your advice, opinions and encouragement. Or, keep doing what youre doing and dont be shocked with the same results... Ready, set, GO!
