About One Pack for One Child It is an initiative to collect educational materials every year and distribute it to children who often start their education year without them. Most children’s parents always face tremendous challenges and pressure every time the New Year comes where they are expected to think, worry and stress about their children’s educational materials, their school uniforms and stationary materials. Because of their economical inability, their worry often turns itself into despair. Keeping it in its purity form When we came up with the name one pack for one child – we want to be anonymous, we didn’t want to make so much publicity on who came up with the name, owns it and take the credit for it. We wanted it to be a social awareness point and a cause for social movement for that to happen we created the following guidelines for its members who are named One Pack for One Child’s Family: 1. No media publicity on the work that is done and contribution we make to collect the materials. (Media, herein, refers to radio, TV, Newspaper …etc) 2. It is not allowed to create an individualized, self – gratifying publicity and claim singular ownership of who does the work. (Everyone who is taking part in the act stays anonymous and the credit goes for everyone who is contributing and helping) 3. Organizing the name into an organization, a group with the intention of taking ownership is not allowed. 4. The principle of “One Pack” must be respected throughout the collection of the materials (A pack is 12 exercise books, 2 pens and pencils, 2 erasers and 2 sharpeners) Global Vision One Pack for One Child has been initiated to be a global movement with the idea that one can really make a difference. Where a single’s person’s contribution is capable of changing the world no matter how small it is. The vision is to make it a global cause that everyone around the world takes part. How it started? The initiative started in Ethiopia before 4 years ago with two individuals to held 12 kids (names anonymous deliberately) the number of members grew dramatically starting from 2013 when one pack for one child brought its names and started using social media to reach out more people. How to become a family member of one pack for one child global family: 1. Understand the idea behind one pack for one child 2. Donate 1 pack and make others to join by donating a pack 3. We encourage for a person to donate a pack and make more people to join in than a single person donating more packs on her/his own. 4. Teach the idea behind one pack – as one can really make a difference no matter how small the contribution can be. 5. Money fund for the pack is less encouraged and material packs and their delivery is encouraged unless the person who wants to help lives abroad and buying and donating the packs is physically difficult to do so. 6. We don’t collect money and buy the exercise books and the stationary materials but rather collect the packs of educational materials. Facilitating: Every family member of one pack for one child is qualified to facilitate the collection of the packs or become a facilitator immediately by donating and collecting others donation and bring it to the central system that is being facilitated by E – Within’s humanitarian initiative project. Membership All one is required is to bring a pack to be part of this global movement and cause. No membership and no specific requirements. Attention: Recently an NGO that we helped 200 packs in 2013 delivery and distribution has stolen the idea and using it against all of the one pack for one child initiative principles. They use media (such as radio, TV and newspaper) to promote themselves as an idea generator and collect finance for the NGO. Because of its global brand, these people are taking advantage of its anonymous nature to publicize themselves. This is to note that any claim on the media as one pack for one child is not the genuine initiative.
