About to flip out here..i paid the balance of my council tax bill - TopicsExpress

About to flip out here..i paid the balance of my council tax bill of £675 (up until March,2015) on June 4th..only £75 was deducted from the bill. The post office launched an inquiry..i wasnt informed at the time..Council then got heavy with me and added an £81 surcharge and i was sent a summons..so i took time away from my business (registered with Company House ,btw) to go and try to sort it out.Searched high and low for my receipt, but couldnt find it.I went to the Council House, took a ticket and waited (standing,as all seats were occupied). In my boredom,i worked out that according to the average waiting time(their board stated 15 mins per person) i would be seen at 7.30pm.They close at what time? So i left, even more stressed and frustrated, and decided to phone them instead the next day,as i was so busy. After multiple attempts at getting through,i did actually speak to a nice lady who advised me to return to the PO and ask them to check their log and cctv, and that the summons would be frozen until the matter was resolved. When i got home i decided to full on tear the house apart again looking for my receipt..YAY !!! FOUND IT !! Went to PO the next day and they said they would start another inquiry and get back to me on the matter. So i was called back the following week..their inner cctv wasnt working on that day/footage wasnt available, but they had a tech guy working on it...So,they said that as i am a regular customer, they would,as an act of good will, pay the outstanding £600.Also,the dude that served me said that he seemed to remember the transaction, but couldnt be sure. Got another receipt. Now i have received a Notice of enforcement, total sum outstanding is £156.00 (£81+£75) ,so now more time away from work to find receipts and sort it out..... I think legal advice is called for..and maybe i should bill them for my time away from my business..Rant most likely NOT over...has anyone had a similar experience ,or have any advice ? Thanx
