Above Only Daily Devotional cgmglobal.org/aboveonly (Lire en français: cgmglobal.org/aboveonly/fr) Sunday, October 19 THRIVING IN THE WILDERNESS (2) Deuteronomy 8:2-3 (GNB) Remember how the LORD your God led you on this long journey through the desert these past forty years, sending hardships to test you, so that he might know what you intended to do and whether you would obey his commands. He made you go hungry, and then he gave you manna to eat, food that you and your ancestors had never eaten before. He did this to teach you that you must not depend on bread alone to sustain you, but on everything that the LORD says. -------------------------------------------------------------------- The Lord that led you into the wilderness will lead you through it and bring you out of it. When the drought was coming to the land of Israel, God led Elijah to a place where he was sustained by a brook called Cherith, and He also commanded Ravens to bring him(Elijah) food. When that brook was about to dry up, God led Elijah to a place He had prepared. God prepared the Zarephath woman to take care of him, 1Kings 17:3-9. Just as Elijah knew he was Gods servant, you must always remember that you are Gods son and Gods servant. Even when seasons change, Gods faithfulness doesnt change. Do not allow the weight of what you are going through to weigh you down and make you unable to hear God and receive His direction. Do not also allow your present situation to lead you astray and to make you go against Gods will for your life. Dont also allow greed to make you despise Gods provisions when they come. The major times that the Israelites had trouble in the wilderness were; when they murmured, and when they did not believe Gods Word to them. They also did not appreciate what God was doing to sustain them. The wilderness is a good place to exercise your faith in God. Be willing to hear Gods voice and to obey Him. If you are willing to hear Gods voice, you will keep studying the Bible and you will continually pray to God. You will remain in His presence and fellowship with other believers. If only you will acknowledge the fact that God is with you, and that He is leading you to enjoy His grace and divine sustenance even in that wilderness. DECLARATION: I will trust and obey the Lord, for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey Him. Thank You Father for Your grace upon my life and in all that concerns me. I am blessed and highly favoured. BIBLE IN ONE YEAR READING PLAN: Mark 10 - 11 Commissioned & Empowered...
