Accepting applications for Sheriff Deputy Sheriff Shane Rekeweg announced today that the Adams County, Indiana Sheriff’s Department will be accepting applications for future vacancies for the position of Deputy Sheriff. Qualifications for the position are that the applicant must be a U.S. citizen, have a valid driver’s license, no felony convictions, high school graduate or have a G.E.D. or T.A.S.K., ability to read and write English, must be at least 21 years of age, pass all the components of the selections process, and if not a resident of Adams County he or she must establish residency within one (1) year of employment. In addition to the before mentioned qualifications the successful applicant must graduate the Basic Officer Training at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy located in Plainfield, Indiana during his or her first year of employment. Applicants must submit an application which can be picked up at the Adams County Law Enforcement Center. Applicants must pass a written exam, a physical agility test, oral interviews, background investigation, psychological examination, medical examination, drug screening, and polygraph tests which are required for employment. The successful applicant will be provided a county own vehicle as well as all uniforms and equipment to perform his or her duties. Adams County offers a benefit package which includes but is not limited to paid vacations, holidays, sick leave, insurance plans as well as a retirement and 457b plan. Applications will be available at the Adams County Law Enforcement Center, 313 South First Street, Decatur, Indiana 46733, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Completed applications must be returned to the Adams County Law Enforcement Center no later than 4:00 p.m. November 21, 2014.
