According to CHS staff each graduating student will receive only 7 tickets for family members to attend graduation. If you have split family with two sets of parents and siblings on both sides plus grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and not to mention all of the other family members.... it puts graduating seniors in quite the predicament to pick who gets a ticket. Oh... but a slight overflow of family can squeeze into the auditorium to watch the ceremony be broadcast in there. :::eye roll::: 1. Why cant Central have graduation outside on the football field like McMinn does? Weather? Ive seen die hard CHS football fans sitting in rain, snow, and heat of the sun just to watch a game.... I ask you which is more important? 2. Why cant Central go to a larger venue to accommodate all family members? A. Sevier County goes to Thompson Boling Arena which had more than enough room for its graduating class and ALL family members. Heck... they even sold popcorn and cokes for your wait. Tons of restrooms. And, most importantly EVERYONE in each students family was able to attend. B. Costs could be defrayed by each attending person purchasing a ticket for $5 each in advance. OR corporate sponsorship from the local businesses could be pursued to help pay for it. C. Is it tradition that prevents CHS from going to a more accommodating venue? Well, let me ask this... what value is a tradition when it excludes the very family members who have helped to support a child to reach graduation?! I ask these questions because Im sure that wed all like to be able to attend graduation. Students have to pick and choose between family members when they should not have to. And, the growing population of the county made this an issue many years ago. Im shocked that no one has done something about this before now. Is there no one in McMinn County that will do anything about this?!
